Premium Antique Quilts:

Explanation:

Marian and Bruce Langhus purchased high quality antique quilt tops* from eBay and had them assembled and hand quilted in Nova Scotia. The backing is “homespun” reproduction fabric. 80/20 Quilt Batting by Loops and Threads give the quilts some loft. Coats and Clark Dual Duty Plus Hand Quilting thread was used.  

*Quilt tops are unfinished quilts (blocks and background ready to be made into quilts). 

ca. Pennsylvania Sawtooth Stars

80” x 96” (Queen Size)

The inner sawtooth star has been popular since the 1840s. The outer saw tooth patterns are more rare. Material was perfectly protected since the late 1800s.

ca. 1900 Le Moyne Star

83” x 69” (Full Size) 
The wide range of fabric appears to have come from several decades. The Le Moyne Star pattern has many variations. The red background highlights the variety of fabrics. The backing is white cotton.

Early 1900s 9-Block Burgundy Background

76” x 79” (Almost square – Full Size)

Burgundy background indicates early 1900s. Many types of fabric from the 1800s (pink and light brown). Florals and polka dots blend well in the 9-blocks.
